About this quiz

This is not a taste test with a right answer, and it won't tell you what to listen to. Five questions about when you listen, what you notice first and what makes you skip get mapped onto one of eight listener profiles, and the description is about habit rather than about knowledge.

Music taste questions usually go wrong by asking which artists you like, which mostly measures what you were exposed to. These questions ask about behaviour instead: whether you need silence or company, whether lyrics or sound reaches you first, whether you skip when something is too quiet or too loud. That turns out to separate people more cleanly than genre checklists do.

No profile is better than another. Classical sounds serious and pop sounds casual, and both impressions miss the point โ€” they're different reasons to put something on, and most people drift between several depending on the year. Your playlist probably contains four of these eight already.

The same answers give the same result, so there's no reason to retake it unless you genuinely answer differently. For a serious question about a real decision, the one-to-one consultation looks at your actual circumstances instead of sorting you into a category.
