Moving Date Helper
Pick a month and see each day graded for moving, so you can circle the ones that work.
About this test
The common mistake with date selection is treating it as finding one perfect day. The practical method is the reverse: filter out the days in a window that do not work, then choose among the rest by your real constraints. Leave approval, handover, building work and lift bookings usually bind harder than the date.
This tool covers one layer: the twelve Jian Chu officers. The month branch of the governing jie is "Jian"; the day branch is counted forward from it as Jian, Chu, Man, Ping, Ding, Zhi, Po, Wei, Cheng, Shou, Kai, Bi. Moving favours Chu, Ding, Zhi, Wei, Cheng and Kai; Jian, Man, Ping and Shou are neutral; Po and Bi are avoided. Days whose branch clashes with the householder's birth-year branch are always marked avoid.
Note that this is not complete date selection. The full system also includes the 28 lunar mansions, the yellow and black paths, auspicious and inauspicious stars, and matching direction to person β none of which is covered here. This answers only which days do not offend on the moving criterion.
Frequently asked
Why does the month branch differ from the lunar month?
Because month branches switch at the 12 jie (Li Chun, Jing Zhe, Qing Ming β¦), and those dates float in the lunar calendar. So the first days of a month may still belong to the previous jie. That is normal, not an error.
Can I never move on a clash day?
The tradition does not prefer it, but it is not a physical prohibition. If only that day works, you can move β the traditional workaround is for another family member to enter first, avoiding the householder's own zodiac hour. This site makes no recommendation there; it only marks the day.
Why not more detailed guidance?
Because finer auspicious and inauspicious lists differ so much between schools that they cannot be checked. The twelve Jian Chu officers are a published, fixed table you can look up and verify yourself, so that is the layer used.
