Name Luck Test

Enter a Chinese name to score it with Kangxi strokes and the 81-number five-grid method.

About this test

Name analysis looks at a name from several angles at once: how it sounds, what the characters mean, how it's written, and how it sits within the five-element framework. In Chinese practice the element balance often carries the most weight, which is why name changes are sometimes recommended.

This test takes all four angles and gives you an overall impression rather than a score. For Chinese names it considers character meaning and element; for names in other languages it leans on sound and the impression the name gives, since the character-based analysis doesn't transfer cleanly.

Worth being clear about what this can't tell you. A name's effect on a life is small next to everything else, and the idea that changing it changes outcomes is not something anyone has demonstrated. If you like your name, a mediocre result here is not a reason to change it.

Where it is useful: checking that a name you're choosing — for a child, a business, a project — doesn't land badly on sound or association.
