Kua Number Test

Enter your birth year and gender to get your Kua number and the eight directions.

About this test

Your Kua number is a single digit derived from your birth year and sex, used in the Eight Mansions system to work out which directions suit you. It's one of the most widely used β€” and most widely argued about β€” tools in popular feng shui.

The practical use is directional: which way to face when you sleep, work or sit for long stretches. This test takes your birth year and gives you the number, the group you fall into, and what that implies for the main positions in a home or office.

Worth being straight about the limits. Kua numbers come from one school of thought; Flying Star and other systems use different inputs and can give conflicting advice for the same person. Practitioners disagree, and nobody has settled it. If two systems tell you different things, that's the field working as it does.

Also: a directional preference is a small input. It doesn't override whether a room has light, whether the layout works, or whether the building is sound.
