BaZi Life Pattern Test

Enter your birth date and hour to get the four pillars and an element count.

About this test

BaZi β€” literally "eight characters" β€” is the traditional Chinese practice of reading a person's pattern from the year, month, day and hour they were born. Each of those four pairs is expressed as a heavenly stem and an earthly branch, which gives the eight characters the system is named for.

This test asks for your birth date and hour and works out the four pillars directly. The year pillar changes at the start of spring (Li Chun), the month pillar at each of the twelve solar terms, and the day pillar from the continuous day count. If you don't know your exact hour, the form has a fuzzy time-range mode you can use instead.

A real BaZi reading is considerably more detailed: a practitioner works with the full chart, the interactions between elements, and the current luck pillar, then ties it to questions you actually have. What you get here is the shape of it β€” enough to tell you whether the direction is worth exploring further.
